Enterprise AI Impact

Amdocs just cut 3,000 jobs. Revenue is beating. The new CEO called it "AI-era restructuring."

Amdocs reported a 3.9% revenue beat for Q2.

The same week, new CEO Shimie Hortig announced 3,000 layoffs.

That is 10% of the 29,000-person workforce. And it is the third round in three years. The rolling total is now over 7,000.

Here is what they are not saying publicly.

Amdocs is building a GenAI and Data division. The headcount in that division will grow substantially. The headcount in legacy billing-system maintenance will not.

AT&T, Verizon, Vodafone, Comcast, T-Mobile. These are the customers. They are rebuilding their customer-service stacks around AI. Amdocs cannot deliver that transition with the workforce it built in the 2010s.

The senior engineers who maintained rules-based billing modules are being replaced by AI engineers and data architects. The composition shift is the real story. Not the layoff count.

This is the template for enterprise software. A profitable vendor. A sticky customer base. A revenue beat. And a deliberate workforce rebuild around generative AI delivery.

The Israeli dimension is politically sensitive. Hundreds of cuts land in Raanana, Sderot, and Nazareth. The Histadrut labour federation is watching. Amdocs is offering retraining grants for staff with relevant AI or data skills.

Audit your vendor stack. If your core systems depend on Amdocs or a similar telco-billing provider, confirm delivery continuity. The customers who are not panicking are the ones who already have AI transition plans in place.
