The US government just picked 100 organizations to receive the most dangerous cybersecurity AI ever built. Your CISO wasn't on the list.

On June 12, the Trump admin forced Anthropic to pull Claude Mythos 5 from the market.

Two weeks later, on June 26, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick wrote to Anthropic with a new directive: Mythos 5 can be redeployed to more than 100 specific US government agencies and companies.

Not everyone. Just the ones the government trusts.

Mythos 5 found thousands of high-severity vulnerabilities across every major operating system and web browser. A 27-year-old OpenBSD flaw. A 16-year-old FFmpeg bug. Chained Linux kernel exploits for full privilege escalation.

72% success rate generating working exploits on the first attempt. The previous Opus model? 0%.

Anthropic committed $100 million in Claude usage credits through Project Glasswing — a closed program restricted to approximately 200 vetted organizations including Apple, Amazon, and Microsoft.

But here's the part that should concern every enterprise CISO.

The government now decides which organizations get access to frontier AI capabilities. Your AI roadmap is no longer a technology decision. It's a national security classification.

If your organization operates critical infrastructure — energy, healthcare, financial services, telecommunications — and you're not on this list, you're defending against threats that your competitors can now detect at machine speed.

Fable 5, the more heavily guarded version, remains locked. The government didn't address it.

Audit your vendor relationships today. Ask your security stack providers whether they have Mythos 5 access. If they don't, your detection capabilities just fell behind adversaries who do.
