Salesforce just cut133 jobs. Its CEO keeps crediting AI. The real story is the roles they're killing.

Salesforce just filed to cut133 more jobs.

Its fourth round of layoffs in under a year.

September 2025:93 jobs. February 2026: hundreds. June 2026:86 jobs. Now October:133 more.

The state filings don't mention AI.

But CEO Marc Benioff has spent the past year crediting AI tools for efficiency gains.

"We have not been loading up a lot more engineers," he said on an earnings call. "The reason it's been mostly flat is because we've been using AI to create more efficiencies."

The cuts land the same month Agentforce, Salesforce's AI agent product, passed $1 billion in annualized revenue.

Look at what's being cut: software engineers, product directors, incident commanders, technical support leads. These are not back-office roles.

These are the people who built the platform AI is now replacing.

Meanwhile, Salesforce just hired a new COO from Oracle. Recruited senior engineers away from Microsoft. Renewed a114,000-square-foot lease in Seattle.
